About
Anneke Geyzen obtained a Master in History from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 2007. Her Master's thesis was titled 'La classe indigente dans la recherche de ses moyens d’existence? Leurders in Brussel in de 19de eeuw'. In 2008, she obtained a Master in European Urban Cultures (POLIS) with a thesis on social mix policy in different European cities. The program enabled her to study at the Universiteit Tilburg, the Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Arts and Design Helsinki. She started her PhD research in January 2009, under the supervision of Prof. dr. Peter Scholliers, examining the relationship between the representation of a culinary heritage and identification processes in Flanders during the second half of the 20th century. Her research has to be situated within the framework of the project 'Artisan quality of fermented foods: myth, reality, perceptions and constructions' - a collaboration between FOST and IMDO (Industrial Microbiology and Food Biotechnology). She co-organised the international conference 'A taste of home. Food, idenity, place and memory in Europe from a historical perspective (19th-20th centuries)' which took place in Brussels on 9 and 10 February 2012.
