About
I received a PhD in English Literature from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 2010. My research concentrates on British Romantic literature and culture (1780-1830). It is mainly located within the fields of ecocriticism, animal studies and aesthetic theory, but makes frequent forays into literature and science studies, gender theory (especially in conjunction with ecofeminism), food studies, evolutionary aesthetics, literary theory and poststructuralist philosophy. I’m especially interested in how the Romantics represented animality (human as well as non-human) and in how their aesthetic views of animality interacted with their moral, scientific, political and religious views.
My first book _Animality in British Romanticism: The Aesthetics of Species_ will be published by Routledge in May 2012.
